When I was involved in a case with the US Secret Service, they brought in an “ethical hacker” as their computer consultant.   One of the techniques used against businesses is to target key individuals in the company and send them emails with infected links and attachments.

The National Security Agency (NSA) has suggested that security systems must be built with the assumption that there will be breaches. No matter how good a firewall that is purchased, or whether you have “the best” anti-virus, there is some way around each level of security.

In my 33 years of working with various technologies we go through this phase a lot.  We see the promise of a new technology.  We see the marketing hype about the technology.  We see some very good things about the new technology.  Then there are the inevitable growing pains as the new technology matures.
